Dominick Drexler
Dominick Drexler (born 26 May 1990 in Bonn) is a German former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He started his youth career with 1. SF Brüser Berg, then Bonner SC, Alemannia Aachen and Bayer Leverkusen.
Drexler began his senior career with Bayer Leverkusen II in 2009, before moving to Rot-Weiß Erfurt in 2010. He made his Erfurt debut in September 2010 in a Thuringia derby against Carl Zeiss Jena and finished his Erfurt spell with 81 appearances and 16 goals.
In 2013 he joined Greuther Fürth, and later played for VfR Aalen (2014–2016). He then moved to Holstein Kiel (2016–2018), where he scored 19 goals in 66 appearances, including a prolific 2017–18 season with 14 goals.
In 2018 Drexler briefly joined Midtjylland before transferring to 1. FC Köln for about €4.5 million. He stayed with Köln until 2021, when he signed with Schalke 04 on a two-year contract. His deal was extended after Schalke’s promotion, taking him to 30 June 2025. On 4 April 2025, Schalke announced that he would retire at the end of the season and move into a role as a youth assistant coach at the club.
Overall, Drexler made 389 league appearances and scored 76 goals in his career.
