Fargo season 1
Fargo: Season 1 is the first season of the FX crime drama Fargo. It aired from April 15 to June 17, 2014 and has ten episodes. The story is set from January 2006 to February 2007 in Bemidji, Minnesota, and follows two linked crimes.
A dangerous hitman named Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) arrives after a car accident and tempts a mild-mannered insurance salesman, Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman), to become violent. Their actions set off a series of murders around the town. Deputy Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) of Bemidji and Duluth police officer Gus Grimly (Colin Hanks) try to solve the crimes and figure out how they connect to Malvo and Nygaard.
The season stars Thornton, Tolman, Hanks and Freeman, with many guest appearances from actors like Bob Odenkirk, Adam Goldberg, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele. It was created by Noah Hawley and produced with the Coen brothers. Filming took place in and around Calgary, Alberta.
Fargo season 1 received strong critical praise for its writing, direction and performances. It won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, along with awards for directing and casting, and earned many other nominations. Billy Bob Thornton won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie.
The season was released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 14, 2014, with bonus features such as commentaries and behind-the-scenes material.
