Petros Karavitis, born 11 March 1952 in Haidari, Greece, is a former Greek footballer who played mainly as a midfielder, but also appeared as a defender and left winger.

He began his career with Chaidari in 1966 and joined Olympiacos’ youth team in 1968 for 30,000 drachmas. In December 1970, he was promoted to Olympiacos’ first team, where he played for ten years. With Olympiacos he won four Greek championships and three Greek Cups, including doubles in 1973 and 1975.

In December 1980, Karavitis left Olympiacos and joined AEK Athens, where he was a regular for about a year and a half. On 25 April 1982, he was sent off in an away game against Panserraikos for insulting the referee and received a 19-match ban, which, along with his age, contributed to his departure from AEK. In December 1982 he signed with Proodeftiki and stayed there for about a year and a half. In 1984 he returned to Chaidari as player-manager and finished his playing career in 1986.

Internationally, Karavitis played for Greece at the under-21 level, helping the team win the Balkan Youth Championship in 1971. He earned 10 caps for the Greece senior national team from 1975 to 1979, scoring 3 goals. His debut came on 30 December 1975 in a 3–2 away loss to Italy, where he played 46 minutes.

After retiring, he moved into coaching in the lower leagues. He also entered politics, running in Athens B with the LAOS party and later at the district level with Giorgos Patoulis. He was involved in Chaidari’s administration as head of a group of investors.
