Sudan is a 1945 American Technicolor adventure film directed by John Rawlins, starring Maria Montez, Jon Hall, and Turhan Bey. The story follows Naila, a young woman who becomes queen of the ancient Egyptian kingdom of Khemis after her father is killed in a slave revolt. She goes undercover among her people to locate rebel leader Herua, but palace schemes lead to her capture and enslavement. After a series of adventures, she is rescued by the very rebel she sought, and she finds herself torn between gratitude and revenge.

Development and release
The project began under the title The Queen of the Nile and was described as a successor to Arabian Nights. Production started in June 1944, and in January 1945 the title was changed to Sudan. It was released in the United States on April 18, 1945. The runtime is 76 minutes. The film was produced by Universal Pictures, with a screenplay by Edmund L. Hartmann, produced by Paul Malvern; music by Milton Rosen; cinematography by George Robinson; and editing by Milton Carruth. It was the last Montez film for over a year due to clashes with Universal.
