Partho Mukherjee (21 September 1947 – 25 December 2017) was an Indian actor known for his supporting roles in Bengali cinema. He had a boy-next-door look and acted in more than 100 films, including Dhanyee Meye, Agnishwar, Amar Prithivi, and Bagh Bondi Khela. He often appeared alongside stars like Uttam Kumar, Soumitra Chatterjee, Sabitri Chatterjee, and Ranjit Mallick, and sometimes played Uttam Kumar’s on-screen brother or son.

Mukherjee started as a child actor in Maa (1958) directed by Chitta Basu. He gained wide recognition for the film Atithi, directed by Tapan Sinha and based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story; he also acted in Apanjan by the same director. He could handle comedy, serious, and tragic roles, and was also a singer.

Born in Kolkata, he studied at Chakraberia Higher Secondary School, earned a B.Com at Charuchandra College in 1965, and enrolled in an M.Com at Calcutta University, but left for film work.

He married music director Ashima Bhattacharya in 1977, who later composed music for Chowringhee.

Partho Mukherjee died of a heart attack at age 70. He received a special award from the state government for his contributions to Bengali cinema and also acted in several TV serials.
