Blackledge River
Blackledge River
The Blackledge River is in eastern Connecticut. It starts at Sperry Pond in Bolton and flows about 16.4 miles through Bolton, Hebron, and Colchester before joining the Jeremy River in Colchester. When the Blackledge and Jeremy meet, the Salmon River is formed, and the Salmon River eventually flows into the Connecticut River.
Along its course, the Blackledge collects water from small creeks such as French Brook and Flat Brook on the left, and Foot Sawmill Brook, Fawn Brook, and the Jeremy River on the right.
The river is popular for whitewater paddling, with many Class I–II rapids. A common starting point for paddlers is West Road, about 4 miles south of Gay City State Park.
