Khin Yu May
Khin Yu May (Burmese: ခင်ယုမေ; 23 March 1937 – 23 January 2014) was a Burmese actress and singer who won two Myanmar Academy Awards. She was born in Rangoon, British Burma (now Yangon), to U Yu Swan and Daw Kyin Myaing. Her sister, Khin Yu Swe, is a singer. She started recording in 1953 with the song May Pan Chi, written by Myo Ma Thi. In 1958 she began her film career with A-Thet, directed by Chin Sein, and I Bawa We, directed by Po Par Gyi. The Three B Company signed her for three films, including Bo Mya Din. She won Myanmar Academy Awards for Ko Paing Myitta (1961) and Shwe Chi Ngwe Chi Tan Ba Lo (1975). She died on 23 January 2014 in Yangon at the age of 76 and was cremated at Yayway Cemetery. Active years: 1958–2008.
