PP-format

PP-format (Post Processing Format) is a proprietary binary file format used for meteorological data by the UK Met Office. It works with the Unified Model, which runs weather simulations for forecasting and climate studies. PP-format stores model outputs such as average surface temperatures, rainfall totals, and other diagnostics. The binary, proprietary design makes it fast to write data to disk during large simulations, and the data can later be converted to more portable formats for analysis.
