Dedicated to the One I Love (album)
Dedicated to the One I Love is a studio album by Linda Ronstadt, released on June 25, 1996. It turns rock classics into gentle lullabies for children. Most of the recording took place from September 1995 to January 1996 at The Simplex, with "Winter Light" recorded in 1993 at Skywalker Ranch. The album runs 29 minutes and 21 seconds and was produced by George Massenburg and Linda Ronstadt. It was released by Elektra, Rhino, and Flashback.
The album features Aaron Neville singing with Ronstadt on Brahms' Lullaby and Valerie Carter providing harmony on many tracks. It includes a new recording of "Winter Light," the title track from Ronstadt’s 1993 album. It reached No. 78 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for three months, and it also reached No. 1 on the Top Kid Audio chart. The album won a Grammy Award in 1997. It was reissued in 2009 on Rhino's Flashback Records label and is now out of print. AllMusic’s Stephen Thomas Erlewine said the songs have lush, sweet arrangements, though turning rock songs into lullabies can be silly and the album’s appeal is limited.
