Northern Midlands Council
Northern Midlands Council is a rural local government area in Tasmania, Australia. It lies south of Launceston in the northern Tasmanian midlands. The council seat is Longford, and the mayor is Mary Knowles. It is part of the Lyons state electorate and the Lyons federal division. The area covers about 5,135 square kilometres and has around 13,300 residents. Major towns include Campbell Town, Evandale, Longford and Perth. The council was created on 2 April 1993 by merging the municipalities of Campbell Town, Evandale, Fingal, Longford and Ross. It is classified as rural, agricultural, and very large.
