Durand is an unincorporated community in Meriwether County, Georgia, United States. The area was first known as Stinson, after pioneer James W. Stinson. It later took the name Durand from the Durand Realty Company, which promoted the town site. A post office opened in 1883 under the name Stinson, was renamed Durand in 1911, and closed in 1957. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Durand in 1910 as the Town of Durand, but the municipal charter was repealed in 1995, so it is no longer an incorporated town. Durand sits at about 840 feet above sea level in eastern Meriwether County.
