Normandie-Maine Regional Natural Park
Normandie-Maine Regional Natural Park is a protected area of forests and hedges in western France. It spans parts of Normandy and Pays de la Loire, in the departments of Orne, Manche, Mayenne and Sarthe. The park was created in 1975 and covers about 257,000 hectares (640,000 acres). It includes around 164 communes and about 171,000 people live there.
The park protects the Sarthe river valley and the large Forest of Andaines. It contains 17 Natura 2000 protected sites; 12 of these are managed by the park and 5 are managed by other groups. The park also includes La carrière des Vaux, a regional nature reserve of just 0.37 hectares, the smallest nature reserve in France.
The park is governed by the Fédération des parcs naturels régionaux de France. Website: parc-naturel-normandie-maine.fr
