Pedro Obiang
Pedro Mba Obiang Avomo (born 27 March 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Monza in Serie B and for the Equatorial Guinea national team. He was born in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, and is 1.85 meters tall.
Club career: He began in Atlético Madrid's youth system before moving to Sampdoria in 2008. He made his first-team debut in 2010 and played 128 league games for Sampdoria, scoring four goals, until 2015. In 2015 he joined West Ham United in England, where he appeared 91 times and scored three goals. He scored his first Premier League goal in February 2017 against Southampton. He won West Ham's Player of the Month award in October 2016 and the club's Goal of the Season for 2017–18 for a strike against Tottenham. In 2019 he moved to Sassuolo in Italy and played there until 2025, when he signed with Monza on a one-year contract with an option to extend. He was diagnosed with bronchopulmonary disease in August 2021 and paused from sport as a precaution.
International career: Obiang played for Spain at youth levels (U17, U19, U21) before switching to Equatorial Guinea. He made his Equatorial Guinea debut on 18 November 2018 against Senegal and scored his first international goal on 22 March 2019 against Sudan. He has earned multiple caps for Equatorial Guinea.
Background: He is of Fang descent from Equatorial Guinea. The Gabonese federation showed interest in him, but he chose to represent Equatorial Guinea.
