The 2011 Holiday Bowl, the 34th edition of the game, was played December 28, 2011, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The Texas Longhorns and the California Golden Bears both finished the season 7–5. Texas won the game 21–10.

Texas’s offense was led by quarterback David Ash, who was the game’s offensive MVP, while Texas linebacker Keenan Robinson earned defensive MVP honors. The Longhorns started strong, taking the lead with a trick-play touchdown pass after Cal opened with a 3-point field goal. California answered with a touchdown to briefly seize the lead, but Texas pulled away with a receiving TD from Marquise Goodwin and later added a 4-yard run by Cody Johnson to seal the victory.

Attendance for the game was 56,313, and each team earned a $1 million payout. The game aired on ESPN, with announcers Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and Jenn Brown on the call.
