Norman Brown (footballer)
Norman Liddle Brown (30 January 1885 – 9 January 1938) was an English professional footballer who played mainly as an outside right or centre forward. Born in Willington Quay, England, he began his career with his hometown club Willington Athletic before turning professional with Sunderland in 1904. He made 27 Football League appearances for Sunderland and scored one goal.
In 1907 Brown moved on to a series of clubs over the next seven years, including Brentford (1907–1908), Luton Town (1908–1909), Southend United (1909–1910), Millwall Athletic (1910–1911) and North Shields, making up eight clubs in total during his career. He joined Blackpool for the 1913 season, where he played 13 league games and scored two goals before retiring at the end of that season.
Brown stood about 5 ft 6 1/2 in tall. He died in North Tyneside, England, in 1938 at the age of 52.
