The Italian Federation of Credit Company Employees (FIDAC) was a trade union for workers in Italy’s finance sector, mainly banking. It started on 3 November 1944 in Rome and joined the Italian General Confederation of Labour (CGIL). By 1954 it had 23,055 members. In 1972, the National Union of Debt Collectors merged into FIDAC. By 1983 membership reached 50,229. In 1983, FIDAC merged with the Italian Federation of Insurance Workers and the United Union of Central Bank Staff to create the Italian Federation of Insurance and Credit Workers.
