Aristida californica
Aristida californica, commonly known as California threeawn or Mojave threeawn, is a grass native to the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts of northern Mexico, California, and Arizona. It grows in sandy areas as clumpy, hairy tufts up to about 40 centimeters tall. The flowering part has hard spikelets with a long beak, and awns up to 4.5 centimeters long. It belongs to the grass family, Poaceae.
