Norcross, Georgia
Norcross is a small city in Gwinnett County, Georgia, about 15 miles northeast of Atlanta. It’s part of the Atlanta metro area and sits near the busy I-85 and I-285 interchange known as Spaghetti Junction.
As of 2020, Norcross had 17,209 residents. The city covers about 4.65 square miles (4.64 land, 0.01 water). It was chartered on October 26, 1870 and was named after Jonathan Norcross, a former Atlanta mayor and railroad official.
Norcross is bordered to the north by Peachtree Corners; the southern edge runs along I-85 with exits 99 (Jimmy Carter Boulevard), 101 (Indian Trail Lilburn Road), and 102 (Georgia State Route 378). Downtown Atlanta is about 20 miles away via I-85.
Education in Norcross is provided by Gwinnett County Public Schools, and the Gwinnett County Public Library operates the Norcross Branch. The main regional newspaper is the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, with El Nuevo Georgia headquartered nearby.
Fun facts: The ABC TV show Resurrection was filmed in the town square and around Norcross. All Elite Wrestling taped at The Nightmare Factory in Norcross in March 2020.
Recreation: The Western Gwinnett Bikeway runs along Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, connecting Norcross to Duluth. In 2015, the city approved a concept study for Beaver Ruin Creek Greenway to connect Norcross with the Peachtree Creek Greenway being built around Atlanta.
