Abra Moore
Abra Moore (born June 8, 1969, in San Diego, California) is an American singer-songwriter known for rock with a folk touch. She grew up in Puna, Hawaii, in a bohemian, jazz-influenced family. At 19, she joined the Hawaiian band Poi Dog Pondering, moved with them to Los Angeles and then Austin, and left in 1992 to start a solo career. Her first album, Sing, appeared in 1995, followed by Strangest Places in 1997.
The Strangest Places album includes the hit "Four Leaf Clover," which got airplay on Midwest radio and on VH1/MTV2 and reached the Billboard Hot 100. The song was nominated for the 1998 Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Tracks like "Trip on Love" and "Don't Feel Like Cryin" were featured in the films Cruel Intentions (1999) and Sliding Doors (1998), respectively.
Moore worked on a project called No Fear, but it was shelved amid management and label changes. Many songs later appeared on Everything Changed (2004). Her next album, On the Way, was released in 2007 by Sarathan Records. She has also appeared in films, including Slacker (1991), and contributed songs to various soundtracks. Moore plays guitar, banjo, piano, and keyboards, and she remains active in music.
