1969–70 Segunda División: The 39th season, played from 6 September 1969 to 7 June 1970. 20 teams competed, including 3 relegated from the previous La Liga and 6 promoted from the Tercera División. Real Gijón were champions and, with Málaga and Español, were promoted to the top division. Relegated to lower divisions were Bilbao, Atlético, Osasuna, Ilicitano, Valladolid, Murcia, Salamanca and Orense. The season had 380 matches and 864 goals (about 2.27 per game). Top scorer: Quini with 21 goals. Best goalkeeper: Francisco Romero with 0.69 goals per game. Biggest home win: Español 7–0 Ilicitano (31 May 1970). Biggest away win: Real Gijón 7–2 Ilicitano (29 March 1970). Highest scoring match: Real Gijón 7–2 Ilicitano (29 March 1970).
