Roy Godfrey
Roy Andrew Michael Godfrey (born 11 August 1989) is a South African rugby union player who plays as a loosehead prop for Jersey Reds in the English Championship.
Born in East London, he went to Selborne College and then joined the Sharks Academy in Durban, playing for the Sharks U21 team in 2010. He moved back to the Eastern Cape in 2012 to study and play for the NMMU Madibaz in the Varsity Cup, captaining the side in 2013 and 2014 and helping them reach the semi-finals.
In 2013 he joined the SWD Eagles, becoming a regular starter and even captaining the team on occasion. After the 2014 Currie Cup First Division, he signed with Perpignan in France’s Pro D2 as a short-term replacement. He later played for Wimbledon RFC in London before signing for the Jersey Reds ahead of the 2017-18 season.
