Nightmare Beach, also known as Welcome to Spring Break, is a 1989 slasher film from the United States and Italy. It was directed by Umberto Lenzi and Harry Kirkpatrick (credited as James Justice) and stars Nicolas de Toth, Sarah Buxton, John Saxon, and Michael Parks.

Plot
During a Miami Spring Break, a biker gang led by Diablo is about to be executed for murder. He proclaims his innocence and vows to return. A year later, Spring Break madness is in full swing, and a mysterious biker starts killing partygoers. His weapon is a device on his motorcycle that delivers a lethal electric-like shock.

Skip and Gail, a student and the bartender who is Gail’s sister, try to find Ronny, one of the victims. They discover that the local police chief and a doctor have covered up the deaths to keep the partygoers calm. As more people are killed, Gail and Skip wonder if Diablo has returned from the dead or if someone else is responsible.

Diablo’s girlfriend Trina is killed in a brutal scene where a live electrical device is used while she’s wearing headphones. A confrontation at a tire yard reveals the killer: Reverend Bates, who believes Spring Break is a time for sinners to be punished with electrocution and sees himself as a “guardian angel.” He also admits to killing Gail’s sister.

Skip and Gail fight Bates. He crashes his bike onto a tire and is electrocuted by an electric field, dying like the others he killed. The next day, Skip and Gail decide to leave Florida for Ohio.

Production notes
Umberto Lenzi was originally set to direct but left the project after a dispute with the producer. Screenwriter Harry Kirkpatrick ended up directing and receiving sole directing credit, though Lenzi stayed on the set as an uncredited adviser. The film is also known as Welcome to Spring Break. Some critics view it as a cheesy, campy '80s horror movie, famous for its over-the-top violence and unserious tone.
