Ryan Barnes
Ryan Donald Barnes (born January 30, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger. He played two games in the NHL for the Detroit Red Wings in the 2003–04 season. Born in Dunnville, Ontario, he is 6 ft 1 in tall and weighed 220 lb during his career, shooting left. Drafted 55th overall in 1998 by Detroit, Barnes spent his pro career (2000–2007) mainly in the minor leagues. In junior hockey, he played for the Sudbury Wolves, Toronto St. Michael's Majors, and Barrie Colts in the OHL; he was suspended 25 games in 1999 for a stick-swinging incident in a game against the Oshawa Generals, and finished that season with Barrie in the Memorial Cup final. After retiring, he began coaching, including stints with the Port Colborne Sailors (GOJHL) in 2007–08 and as an assistant coach with the Peterborough Petes in 2008–09.
