Secret Stadium Sauce is a popular condiment at Milwaukee Brewers games in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was created in the early 1970s by Rick Abramson, then a vendor at Milwaukee County Stadium, when they ran out of other toppings. He mixed barbecue sauce with a little ketchup and mustard, smoked syrup, and other ingredients to make this sauce. It was first used at County Stadium and is still served at American Family Field, its replacement. The sauce is made by Delaware North Companies Sportservice and sold in 18-ounce bottles in Wisconsin grocery stores. It became famous in the 1980s after broadcaster Bob Costas praised it on bratwursts during Brewers games. The bottle’s label also includes a recipe for using the sauce as a marinade. People describe its flavor in different ways, from a mix of barbecue sauce and sauerkraut juice to a blend of clam juice and sweet tomato sauce. Adam Richman called it a mix of chili sauce, cocktail sauce, barbecue sauce, and ketchup.
