Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services
Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS) is the province’s single health authority. It plans and delivers health care across Newfoundland and Labrador. NLHS was created on April 3, 2023, by merging the four regional health authorities—Eastern Health, Central Health, Western Health and Labrador-Grenfell Health—with the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI). The merger, approved by law in 2022, aimed to simplify and unify health care administration. The organization is led by Chief Executive Officer Ron Johnson and governed by a board of trustees appointed by the provincial government. NLHS operates in five administrative zones and serves the entire province, with its headquarters in St. John’s.
