Narapura Venkateswara Temple, Jammalamadugu
Narapura Venkateswara Temple is a historic Hindu temple in Jammalamadugu town, YSR Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The temple is dedicated to Venkateswara, a form of Vishnu, known here as Narapura Venkateswara. The name is said to come from Narapuraiah, a devotee who built the temple according to the deity’s wishes. Within the temple complex there is an Anjaneya (Hanuman) shrine, a Kalyana Mantapam (wedding hall), and a goshala (cattle shelter). Since 23 October 2008, the temple has been administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and follows Pancharatra Agama rituals for all poojas. Saturdays are especially crowded, and Vaikunta Ekadashi draws large crowds. The annual Brahmotsavam, also called Thirunalla, lasts nine days in Vaisakha (May), with processions on palanquins and various Vahanas; on Rathotsavam day, the temple chariot procession is held. People from Jammalamadugu and nearby villages come to witness these celebrations.
