N2-citryl-N6-acetyl-N6-hydroxylysine synthase
N2-citryl-N6-acetyl-N6-hydroxylysine synthase (EC 6.3.2.38), also called iucA, is an enzyme found in bacteria. It catalyzes an ATP- and Mg2+-dependent reaction that attaches citrate to N6-acetyl-N6-hydroxy-L-lysine, forming N2-citryl-N6-acetyl-N6-hydroxylysine and releasing ADP and phosphate. This enzyme is part of the biosynthesis of the siderophore aerobactin, which helps bacteria acquire iron.
