Mutual FC
Sparta Asia Football Club, legally Mutual Football Club (Chinese: 淦源足球會), is a Hong Kong football club currently playing in the Hong Kong Second Division. It was founded in 1993 and is branded as Sparta Asia. The club is led by president Rosa Chi and head coach Lawrence Akandu. Its home grounds are various venues around Hong Kong.
History in brief:
- 2008–09: Played in the top-tier First Division but finished 12th of 13 and were relegated.
- 2010–11: Won promotion to the First Division from the Second Division runner-up, but soon withdrew from the First Division and was removed from the Hong Kong league system.
- 2012–13: Rejoined the league in the Fourth Division.
- 2015: Sparta Rotterdam’s Asia football academy took charge and the club was renamed Sparta Rotterdam Mutual FC.
- 2018: The partnership with Sparta Rotterdam ended.
- 2019: The club was revived and rebranded as Sparta Asia.
Current status:
- 2024–25 season: Hong Kong Second Division, 11th place out of 15 teams.
