All India Radio (band)
All India Radio is an Australian electronic band from Tasmania that has been active since 1997. The music blends lo-fi, downtempo, and instrumental styles, led by Martin Kennedy, who has been the band's constant member. Their debut album, The Inevitable, was released in 1999.
Their work has been featured in films and TV shows such as CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, Sicko, Till Human Voices Wake Us, and Australian programs like Bondi Rescue and Recruits. Kennedy, along with Steve Kilbey, created the original soundtrack for the Australian film The Rare Earth. The band’s self-titled third album was nominated for an ARIA Award in 2003. They have collaborated with artists including Steve Kilbey, Graham Lee, Ed Kuepper, and David Bridie. Wired Magazine described their sound as a blend of ambient and guitar elements, with influences from Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti, and compared to the styles of DJ Shadow, Tortoise, and Thievery Corporation. Their 19th studio album, The Generator of All Infinity, was released in September 2022. The ARIA Music Awards, which began in 1987, recognize excellence in Australian music.
