Hot Springs High School (Arkansas)

Hot Springs World Class High School is a public magnet high school in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It is the only high school in the Hot Springs School District and serves students in grades 9–12. The campus is located at 701 Emory Street in Hot Springs.

The school’s historic 1914 building on Oak Street is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and now houses public housing called Hot Springs High School Lofts. The Oak Street building burned in 1913, and the current Emory Street campus opened afterward.

Academics and programs: Hot Springs World Class High School offers Advanced Placement courses (English Language and Composition, Statistics, Physics, Psychology) and allows students to earn college credits through nearby National Park Community College. Since 2004, it has been authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and IB Middle Years Programme. Other courses include Spanish, French, Chinese, digital imagery, graphic design, fine arts, guitar, business, Theory of Knowledge, ROTC, and family and consumer sciences.

Accreditation and rankings: The school is accredited by the Arkansas Department of Education and AdvancED (since 1924). In 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked it No. 9 in Arkansas, No. 102 among magnet high schools, and No. 1,385 nationally.

Traditions and athletics: The yearbook is The Old Gold Book, published since 1914. The mascot is the Trojan, with black and gold colors. The Trojans compete in the Arkansas 5A classification and have won 24 state championships.

Enrollment and leadership: About 767 students attend in 2023–2024, with a student-to-teacher ratio of around 12:1. The principal is Kiley Simms.
