Move-up home: a larger or more expensive home you buy after moving from a smaller one. Buyers are usually repeat buyers who may know the real estate process better than first-time buyers. In 2012, CNBC highlighted challenges for move-up buyers who owed more on their current home than it was worth. Move-up home purchases tend to increase when interest rates are low.
