Asim Brkan, born on 28 October 1954 in Mostar, is a Bosnian singer and musician known for neo-folk and sevdalinka. He is regarded as one of the best folk singers of his generation. Brkan grew up in a Bosniak family (father Ibro, mother Bisera), later moving to the city. He studied electrical engineering and sang in a folklore club before being discovered by Jugoton in Zagreb.

His career took off in the 1970s. He released his first single, "Tvoje oči garave," in 1976, followed by hits like "Ne ruši mi sreću, nepoznata žena" (1978) and "Jednom sam i ja volio" (1979). In 1982 he put out the popular album "Najljepšu haljinu večeras obuci." He performed across Yugoslavia and became a major star.

With the Yugoslav Wars, Brkan left Belgrade with his family and lived in the Netherlands and Germany. He returned to Bosnia in 1994 and retired from singing in 1996 at age 42. He is remembered for his distinctive, lyrical voice and for sevdalinka; some of his recordings are in the National Music Register.

Brkan made a comeback in 2009. A CD with his songs from 1976–1990 was released by PGP-RTS, and he recorded sevdalinka songs for MP BHRT. His version of "Mujo kuje konja pod mjesecu" was added to the National Music Register soon after. He has two sons, Omar (1989) and Emel (1996), with his wife Azra. He has worked with Jugoton, PGP-RTB, PGP-RTS, and In Takt Records.
