Missing U is a synth-pop disco song by Swedish singer Robyn. It was released on August 1, 2018, as the lead single from her eighth album, Honey, and is Robyn’s first solo release in eight years. The track premiered on BBC Radio 1 during Annie Mac’s show, and a seven-minute promo video preceded the single.

The song was written by Robyn, Klas Åhlund, and Joseph Mount, and produced by Robyn with Åhlund and Mount. Robyn began a demo in mid-2014 using a laptop, a LinnDrum drum machine, and software synths; the lyrics took two years to finish. The track runs 4:57.

Missing U is about people disappearing and Robyn’s relationship with her fans. The chorus features bubbly synths, with a minimal drum beat and grand synth loops, giving the song a more stripped-down, demo-like feel than her earlier hits.

Critics welcomed the song. The Cut called it characteristically dance-y and easy to get stuck in your head, comparing it to “Dancing on My Own” and “Call Your Girlfriend.” The Atlantic noted that Robyn holds back just enough to express something difficult to say.
