Michael Alfred Hopfner (January 25, 1947 – April 19, 2009) was a hotel owner, electrical contractor, and politician in Saskatchewan. He represented Cut Knife-Lloydminster in the Legislative Assembly from 1982 to 1991 as a Progressive Conservative. Born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, he studied in Lake Lenore and at Moose Jaw technical school. He served on Lashburn town council and was mayor. He served as government whip in the assembly and was defeated by Violet Stanger in 1991. Hopfner was found guilty of fraud related to the Saskatchewan Progressive Conservative scandal of the 1980s and was sentenced to 18 months in jail with restitution of $56,000.
