Mettau was a small municipality in the Laufenburg district in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. It covered about 3.3 square kilometers, sat at 347 meters above sea level, and had around 317 residents in 2006. It was bordered by Etzgen, Oberhofen, Schwaderloch and Wil. On January 1, 2010, Mettau merged with Hottwil, Etzgen, Oberhofen and Wil to form the new municipality of Mettauertal. The postal code was 5274.
