Martinostat

Martinostat is a drug that blocks histone deacetylases (HDACs), enzymes that regulate gene activity. It is highly potent against several HDACs, especially class I (HDAC1–HDAC3) and HDAC6 (class IIb), with activity in the low nanomolar range. In lab tests, it preferentially targets class I HDACs. When labeled with radioactive carbon-11, martinostat can be used with PET imaging to measure HDAC levels in the brain and other organs in living subjects. The name comes from the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, following the naming style of other HDAC inhibitors like vorinostat and entinostat.
