Maltby le Marsh
Maltby le Marsh is a small village and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It sits between Alford and Mablethorpe at the junction of the A1104 and A157 roads. The village used to have a shop, newsagent, post office, service station, two pubs (the Crown Inn and the Turks Head), and Oham fishing lake, but most have closed, leaving only the fishing lakes. The Maltby le Marsh tower mill is no longer in use; the sails are gone, but the brick base remains. A previous post mill has disappeared.
There used to be a 12th‑century Anglican church, All Saints, along with Baptist and Methodist chapels. The Anglican church is now disused and the village shares the church at Beesby. The Baptist chapel has been converted into a house, and the Methodist chapel is now the village hall, used together with Strubby and Beesby.
All Saints’ Rectory was built in 1839. The first rector, Reverend Robert Allott, built a church school in 1847; it closed in 1922 and had 72 pupils. The rectory was sold in 1938 and, by 1990, had become a private nursing home.
