Merv Scanlan
Mervan Scanlan (8 December 1902 – 16 November 1941) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was born in Cobden, Victoria, and started with the South Districts. In 1924 he played two games for South Melbourne. In 1925 he became coach of the Tungamah Football Club. He died after falling from a bus in South Melbourne on 16 November 1941, at the age of 38, and is buried at Fawkner Cemetery.
