Maksatikhinsky District is a district in the northeast of Tver Oblast, Russia. It covers 2,766 square kilometers, and its administrative center is Maksatikha, an urban-type settlement. The district’s population was 16,723 in the 2010 census, with about half living in Maksatikha and the rest in rural areas. Administratively, the district has 1 urban settlement and 3 rural settlements, plus 1 urban-type settlement and 292 rural localities. Municipally, it is Maksatikhinsky Municipal District, with 1 urban and 3 rural settlements.

Geography and history: The district lies in the Mologa River basin. The Mologa starts in the southeastern part of the district and runs through Maksatikha. In the Middle Ages, the area bordered Novgorod lands. Over time it became part of Moscow and Novgorod governorates, then the Tver region. Maksatikhinsky District was established on July 12, 1929 within Bezhetsk Okrug of Moscow Oblast. It later moved to Kalinin Oblast, briefly belonged to the Karelian National Okrug, which was abolished in 1939. In 1990 Kalinin Oblast was renamed Tver Oblast.

Economy: The district has timber and food industries. The main agriculture is cattle breeding (meat and milk) and vegetable farming.

Transport: A railway from Rybinsk to Bologoye via Bezhetsk crosses the district, with Maksatikha as the main station. Roads connect Maksatikha to Tver (via Rameshki), Bezhetsk, Vyshny Volochyok, and Lesnoye, along with local bus routes.

Culture: The district has 17 federal cultural heritage monuments and 25 local ones. Notable federal sites include the Nikolo-Terebensky Monastery in Truzhenik and the Dormition Church in Dobryni (18th century), along with several archaeological sites. Maksatikhinsky District is one of four districts in Tver Oblast with a significant Tver Karelian population.
