James Matthew Spencer (born 11 April 1985 in Stockport) is an English football goalkeeper. He is 6 ft 5 in tall. He came through Stockport County’s youth system and made his first-team debut in 2002 at age 16 in a 2–1 win over Watford. He played for Stockport from 2001 to 2007, making 91 league appearances. In 2007 he joined Rochdale, but injuries limited him to 20 league appearances, including a double hernia and a hip stress fracture in 2008. He spent a short emergency loan at Chester City in 2009, playing five league games as they were relegated. After being released by Rochdale in 2009, he joined Northwich Victoria, where he played 66 league games over two seasons. He then moved to FC United of Manchester in 2011.
