Majesty Cruise Line

Majesty Cruise Line was a Norwegian cruise brand based in Miami that operated from 1992 to 1997. It was created by Dolphin Cruise Line as a more upmarket option and was later merged into Norwegian Cruise Line.

Its first ship, Royal Majesty, was originally ordered by Birka Line for 24-hour cruises from Stockholm. After Wärtsilä went bankrupt, the contract was sold to Majesty. Royal Majesty offered three- and four-night cruises from Florida, and in 1995 it started a summer Boston–Bermuda route, ending at St George's.

In June 1995, Royal Majesty ran aground off Nantucket Island due to GPS problems and poor watchkeeping, ending up 17 miles off course and stuck for about a day before tugs freed her.

In 1997, Majesty added a second ship, Crown Majesty (ex Crown Dynasty). The 1997 season used Crown Dynasty's planned routes, but after that season both ships transferred to Norwegian Cruise Line. Royal Majesty was sold to NCL and renamed Norwegian Majesty, and Crown Majesty’s charter was also transferred.
