Maggie's Dream

Maggie’s Dream was an alternative funk rock band formed by Raf Hernandez, Danny Palomo, Lonnie Hillyer, Tony James, and Draco Rosa, who had been in Menudo and later pursued a solo career. They released one studio album on Capitol Records, produced by Josh Deutsch, on October 8, 1990.

Their music mixed funk, soul, and rock with Latin influences. They toured with Fishbone and Faith No More, and opened for the Black Crowes in 1991, but were removed from that tour after making a Miller beer commercial.

The band was known for its energetic, hard-edged sound. Lenny Kravitz auditioned to be their singer but then created a similar retro 60s Beatles-like style. Maggie’s Dream was sometimes compared to Living Colour and Terrence Trent D’Arby.
