Marta Magaly Quiñones Perez, born in 1945 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican poet. She began working as a librarian at the University of Puerto Rico in 1973 and earned a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature from the same university in 1981. She has published at least 14 volumes, including poetry, short stories, essays, and criticism. Her first poetry collection, Entre mi voz y el tiempo, appeared in 1969. The 1985 collection Nombrar won a Puerto Rican PEN Club award and a prize from Ediciones Mairena. Her poetry often explores Caribbean identity. From 2020 to 2024, some supporters have advocated for her to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature.
