Mack Sechele
MacIntyre "Mack" Sechele was the regent of the Bakwena (Kwena) tribe from 1978 to 1986. He was born to kgosi Sechele II and his first wife Lena Rauwe.
In 1962, during a succession dispute, Mack supported Moruakgomo Sechele to become kgosi over Bonewamang Padi Sechele. Although he was the son of a kgosi, he did not challenge the seniority of his nephews. Neale Sechele was chosen as kgosi in 1963, and Mack became his deputy a year later. Because Neale did not take a strong interest in governing, Mack effectively ran the tribe for much of that period. When Neale’s successor Bonewamang died in 1978, Mack was appointed as regent to govern for Bonewamang’s son Kgari Sechele III. Mack resigned in 1986 and was succeeded by his son Moithali Sechele II as regent. His elder son Sentibile did not succeed him due to questions about his legitimacy. Mack’s father was Sechele II and his mother was Lena.
