Lost on a Mountain in Maine
Lost on a Mountain in Maine is a book by Donn Fendler about a boy who gets lost while hiking on Mount Katahdin in Maine. It first appeared in 1978 and is written from Fendler’s perspective as a young boy. He describes the tough experience, including fatigue, hunger, and moments of hallucination. He also loses most of his clothing—his trousers and shoes—when he tries to throw them across a stream and they float away. In 2011, the story was reissued as a young-adult graphic novel. A film adaptation was released on November 1, 2024.
