Los Angeles Blades

The Los Angeles Blades were a professional inline hockey team based in Inglewood, California. They played from 1993 to 1997 and home games were at the Great Western Forum. Their colors were dark blue, black, silver and white, and the team was owned by Jeanie Buss, daughter of Lakers owner Jerry Buss.

The Blades competed in Roller Hockey International (RHI) and were one of the league’s original 12 teams, using a summer schedule at the Forum, which also hosted the NBA’s Lakers and the NHL’s Kings. They posted winning records in four of their five seasons and made the playoffs every year, but were eliminated each time by the Anaheim Bullfrogs.

RHI suspended operations after 1997; when the league returned in 1999, the Blades did not come back, and the league eventually folded after the 1999 season. There have been other teams named Los Angeles Blades in different leagues and eras (1978–79 and 1961–1967).
