The 2018 California State Assembly election was held on November 6, 2018, with the primary on June 5, 2018. All 80 seats in the California State Assembly were up for election.

Democrats, led by Speaker Anthony Rendon, won a clear victory, flipping five Republican seats in the 16th, 38th, 40th, 74th, and 76th districts. They finished with 60 seats to the Republicans’ 20, an increase of five seats for the Democrats.

The Democrats also won about 66.8% of the total vote to the Republicans’ 31.5%.

This result gave Democrats a three-fourths (75%) supermajority in the Assembly (60 of 80 seats), building on the two-thirds supermajority they already held. Rendon remained the Speaker.
