Lis Beyer
Lis Beyer (Elisabeth Beyer-Volger) was a German textile artist born in 1906 in Hamburg. She studied at the Bauhaus, where teachers included Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, and Wassily Kandinsky. In the Bauhaus weaving workshop she worked with Georg Muche and Gunta Stölzl and even performed with Oskar Schlemmer during rehearsals for the Triadic Ballet in 1926. She passed the Journeyman and Weaver exams and later taught weaving at the Maxschule in Würzburg.
She married artist Hans Volger in 1932, and they had two children. Hans Volger died in 1973. Lis Beyer died in 1973 in Süchteln.
