City Hall (St. Louis)
St. Louis City Hall is a government building in downtown St. Louis. It was designed by Eckel & Mann after winning a national design contest. Construction started in 1891 and finished in 1898. The building is about 80 meters tall with 10 floors and is built in Renaissance Revival style, inspired by Paris’s Hôtel de Ville. The interior is grand, with marble and gold trim.
City Hall has housed the city government since it opened. It contains the offices of the Mayor, the Board of Aldermen, and the Department of Public Safety. Most city meetings are held there and are open to the public. In 1971, it was named a St. Louis City Landmark.
Public transit: Red and Blue MetroLink lines serve the area, and MetroBus stops nearby.
