Herb Burleigh (14 June 1892 – 2 November 1975) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) from 1914 to 1919. Born in Nirranda, Victoria, he came from Morwell and made his Carlton debut in Round 3 of 1914 against University at the MCG. In 1915 he starred as centre half forward and was Carlton’s leading goal-kicker for the season. He enlisted for World War I in 1915 but delayed service until after Carlton won the 1915 Grand Final. In September 1917, a severe right forearm injury ended his frontline service; after surgery, he returned to Australia in January 1918 and was discharged as medically unfit. He attempted a comeback and played three games in 1919 before retiring due to the injury. Burleigh returned to teaching in 1920 and spent the rest of his life as a teacher in rural communities. He was 184 cm tall and weighed 80 kg.
